In recent years, Tunghai University, which has been repeatedly recognized in the promotion of sustainable development, is also moving towards the sustainable goals of the United Nations SDGs in art communication. Donghai will hold the “2023 Taiwan International SDGs Image Design Exhibition” under the guidance of the Environmental Protection Bureau of the Taichung City Government on the 22nd, together with the Art and Design Association of the Republic of China. Xu Hejie, Dean of Donghai College of Creative Design and Art, said that this time coincided with the closure of Donghai Lusiyi Church for one year for renovation. He saw that the surrounding building fences affected the beautiful campus of Donghai University, so he had an idea and decided to redesign the building fences. Initiate the “2023 Taiwan International SDGs Image Design Exhibition”, treat the surrounding environment as an art exhibition venue, and display the paintings on the outdoor fence! Xu Hejie further said that this time happened to be the 60th anniversary of the “Republic of China Art Design Association”, the oldest visual design association in Taiwan, so they also held an SDGs popularization activity with Donghai. The exhibits included 70 large-scale image works from 30 countries; Elite students from various associations and colleges also provided more than 120 pieces, and a total of nearly 200 works will be exhibited in the building fence of Luce Church; at the same time, it will also make the 60th anniversary of Tunghai University Lucie Church and SDGs sustainable It is of great epochal significance to develop together to speak out to the world, and to combine design and art across borders with creativity.

Xu Hejie added that in order to help young students connect with the current development of innovative design in Taiwan and the world, this event will be organized together with major institutions such as Central Chaoyang University of Science and Technology, Daye University, and Lingdong University of Science and Technology to organize “Innovative Design and Art Learning Lecture Hall”, the theme of the lecture hall will be the current design and art innovation learning and development as the theme, and a static exhibition will be presented in the art center. This lecture activity is aimed at high school students across the country. It conforms to the concept of the United Nations’ 17 sustainable development goals SDGs. It takes innovative design and art as the category, so that high school students can have a deeper exploration and understanding of the fields of interest, and connect with universities early.
